Sunday 2nd August Coast 2 Coast in Daylight led by Paul Merckx
For those of you who fancied the challenge of the Summer Solstice Run, but like your beauty sleep, here’s another opportunity. It’s a different route, but still from West coast to East. Although run in daylight, it’s a long ride, and a considerable challenge, aimed at those who are happy travelling briskly. There’s hardly a straight bit all day, and most of the route is national speed limit – you have been warned!
We meet at the petrol station in Crosshills at the end of the Aire Valley dual carriageway (A629 from Keighley towards Skipton) at 9am with the intention of getting away by 9:15.
Breakfast in Grange-over-Sands, 60 miles into the ride.
Late lunch near Stokesley after about 180 miles.
Afternoon tea in Whitby, 220 miles but the last 40 are on tight twisty (slower) roads.
Finish in Wetherby at ABOUT 6:30 after ABOUT 300 miles in total.
See you at Crosshills, I’ll be on either a (very) multi-coloured Aprilia Mille or a blue Triumph Daytona 955i. Debbie will be on the back if we can get a babysitter and unless the weather’s really horrible – hopefully she won’t be the only pillion. All welcome.
If you want to chat about this ride, especially if you’re wondering whether to come or not, please don’t hesitate to call me on 07834 693104. Paul
